The Irish had a fast start on Saturday, scoring just 4 minutes into the match through a Luc Joseph try, and shut out the Navy Midshipmen for 32 minutes before they struck twice to take the lead. A Dan Conmy penalty kick brought the Irish within 2 points at half time, 8-10. The Irish started the second half exactly as they did the match, with another Joseph try, regaining the lead 15-10 after a successful Conmy conversion. Navy tied the match at the 53 minute mark and play remained knotted until Navy broke the tie at 63 minutes, and added 2 more tries for good measure, and the 15-34 win. Despite the result, the Irish controlled play for much of the match, and showed tremendous passion and heart in front of a partisan crowd on hand to witness the dedication of the Jon Prusmack Rugby Complex at the US Naval Academy.
