After a successful 2021 15s, and 2022 7s season, the Fighting Irish rugby team is eager to return to the field of play this fall. The team will play host to 7 home matches this fall, with multiple signature events on the docket. On Friday, September 16 the team will host University of Michigan for the Parseghian Cup, benefiting the Ara Parseghian Medical Research Fund. The weekend will also serve as the annual alumni reunion, welcoming over 60 years of rugby alums back to campus to enjoy an action packed rugby & football weekend.
The Irish, long a friend of Big Ten Universities, has agreed to join the Big Ten Rugby Conference for it's regular season 15s and 7s competition before advancing through to the National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) post season play. On Saturday, November 12 the Irish will play host to the Big Ten Rugby Conference Championships at the world class Stinson Rugby Field. Multiple matches will be played throughout the day, including the Big Ten Championship match. One final regular season contest remains ahead of the NCR playoffs as the Irish will play host to the Rugby 'Holy War', with Boston College coming to town on Friday, November 18. The team will travel for 2 away games this fall, both coinciding with football opposition in Ohio State, and Syracuse. November 4th the team will compete in the Big Ten Rugby Semi Finals, location TBD based on final conference standings.
