Winter Camp Day 1

January 10, 2012Byron Henry

The first day of camp began with a 6 o'clock wake up call for an early breakfast followed by an awakening yoga session which has become a daily routine. The players then made their way to the JACC for a strength and conditioning test to hold the players accountable for their training over the break. As expected, all of the players passed and the coaches were quite impressed with the results.

The players then worked on ball skills for a quick cool down before heading to McGlinn fields for more extensive work. There the backs and forwards split for individual work. The forwards worked on scrums and line-outs, while the backs worked on first phase plays.

After a quick lunch break, the team returned to the pitch to continue their work. Following an hour of scrums, line outs, and running plays, the team came together for some light contested scrimmaging. The team focused on certain situations that arise often during games.

All in all it was a great day of rugby and a great start to the camp. The team is excited for the rest of the week.
